CSDSIP. What are some of the benefits of membership and who gets them? Choosing the right insurance for your school, district, or BOCES is a huge job, and understanding who and what is included in coverage is not always easy. At CSDSIP, we provide our 166 Members with custom property and liability insurance designed just for Colorado education. We also ensure each of our Members have access to comprehensive support, advice, and guidance from seasoned professionals that can help secure your future for years to come.

Tell me about coverage.

Speaker 1
CSDSIP provides our Members with property and school entity liability coverage. Our custom property coverage pays for direct physical loss of or damage to Member-owned buildings, equipment and supplies and materials used in the educational process, which are all subject to additional policy terms and conditions. Our school entity liability, or SEL, coverage is a blended coverage form that includes general liability coverage for damage or injury directly resulting from your school operations; school leaders wrongful acts; coverage for alleged negligent errors, acts, omissions, misstatements, misleading statements, neglect, or breach of duty committed by an insured; and finally, employment wrongful acts coverage for losses resulting from hiring, firing, and other employment practices. Our Risk Programs (now Underwriting) team is always ready to answer any specific questions you have regarding your property and SEL coverage, and can help you tailor your coverage to balance risks and costs in a way that makes sense to you.

Speaker 2
Who is covered?

Speaker 1 (01:44)
Our SEL covers the Member that is you, your employees, your non-compensated student teachers, and lawfully-elected or appointed members of your Board of Education or governing board. It also includes your board-appointed committees and volunteers and can even apply to students while participating in supervised internships as a part of their educational curriculum. However, to be considered an insured under our SEL coverage form, individuals or groups must be working at the Member's direction and within the scope of their duties performed for the Member.

Speaker 2
What else can CSDSIP do for me?

Speaker 1
Because we are a Member-owned insurance pool, we have a vested interest in providing high quality services to our Members because when you control your risk, we all benefit. Our experienced team of risk control professionals are happy to help you evaluate events and activities to help identify and manage risks before they occur.

Our Legal Resources program offers free education-focused legal advice, just a phone call away from Members. These precautions can save you time and money in the long run by helping you avoid claims and legal fees, but most importantly, they can help keep your students, staff, and community members safe, which is something we all want. Our Risk Control team provides members access to high quality, robust, and timely training designed to meet the ever-changing needs of Colorado educators. Our curated, online training suite remains available to members 24/7 for your on-demand needs, while our live virtual trainings offer two-way communication and more interactive experience. We also look forward to getting Members back in the training room for the in-person sessions we all love, as soon as it's safe to do so.

Speaker 2
What happens if I do have a claim?

Speaker 1
Even with good preparation, training, and risk mitigation, you just can't plan for everything. But that's why you have insurance. CSDSIP understands that nobody wants to experience a claim or loss, and those are the times in which you need the most support. Our CSDSIP Claims team is here for you when the unexpected happens, ready to aid your recovery and walk you through the claims process. Members can count on our experienced and thoughtful staff to help you understand your options, anticipate your needs, and see your claim through to resolution.
